Make nicer Rivendell (or Qt application) under Gnome

If you’re using Rivendell under a Gnome environment (like me), the Qt interfaces look like this :

If Clearlooks looks good for you, you can setup Qt to use Klearlooks. As you don’t have the KDE environment, this setup is manual but very easy :

Install needed packages :

sudo apt-get install kde-style-qtcurve gtk2-engines-qtcurve

Install this very minimal qtrc file into your ~/.qt directory

Restart rdairplay

Enjoy :

In Debian lenny it is needed to edit the qtrc and change the line “style=qtc_klearlooks”, replacing it with “style=qtcurve”, “style=plastik” or “style=keramik” (without the quotes).

    Hi again,

In Ubuntu Jaunty, just installing k3b (the burning CD software) you get the kde3 libraries needed for having a great qtcurve look.

In Ubuntu Karmic, I found some help in

In short, add this repositories in /etc/apt/sources.list
    # For Karmic:
    deb karmic main
    deb-src karmic main

    Add the GPG signing key:
    wget -q -O- | sudo apt-key add -

    Run “sudo apt-get update”

Do NOT install kubuntu-desktop-kde3; this will install about 260 MB in unneeded packages. Just use apt-get to install kde-style-qtcurve-kde3 and gtk2-engines-qtcurve, this install the needed packages. Then, in the ~.qt/qtrc file, change the libraryPath line to:

    Good luck!
