Rivendell, Debian, i386, amd64, Ubuntu, patch and 1.1.1

The new build process leads to several news about rivendell debian packages :

  • Debian binary packages
  • Ubuntu intrepid packages
  • Debian / ubuntu packages for rivendell 1.1.1

Warning

Keep in mind the current packages are not tested (or very quickly). Don’t use in a production environment for the moment. But they shouldn’t break your laptop ;-)

Feedback are welcome (on irc, on rivendell mailing-list or on french rivendell mailing-list).

Debian binary packages

The binaries packages for debian stable/testing/unstable i386 are available on debian.tryphon.org. The amd64 binaries packages have been built yesterday evening. Unhappily an ISP router outage blocks them on the build machine. They should be uploaded this evening (France timezone).

Ubuntu intrepid packages

The new build process includes intrepid i386 and amd64. For the moment, a compilation error into rdconf.cpp requires a patch. The patch is ready but isn’t tested. If no other problems are “detected” in the ubuntu build, the intrepid i386 and amd64 packages should be avalaible tomorrow morning.

Debian / ubuntu packages for rivendell 1.1.1

Fred and the development team announced rivendell 1.1.1 yesterday. Good job, guys :-)

This version is already used by the last debian builds (not published) So debian and ubuntu packages for 1.1.1 should be available this week.

New build process

All these good news are the result of a new rivendell debian build script. It’s still too experimental to be documented and shared for the moment.

But these few lines of rake (and ruby) can retrieved tarball sources and build all the packages in one command line. dpkg-buildpackage and pbuilder are nice tools, but rivendell debian build creates 9 packages on 8 platforms … it takes few hours even on a big AMD 2x :-)
